Nobuko was born and raised in the Kansai area of Japan. Witch is the area around Osaka. There must be something in the water there, cause it seems to culture people with no boarders on art. She moved to Tokyo to study art, and has since moved to NYC. We here at music related think she’s a great unique talent, and continues the kansai’s area history of pushing left field pop and experimentation forward.

Boris are a Japanese experimental trio, known for their genre-hopping in between and on records. As of 2008, personnel are drummer Atsuo, bassist/guitarist/vocalist Takeshi, and guitarist Wata. Japanese cult favorite sludge/doom rock trio Boris takes their name from a song on grunge godfathers the Melvins’ Bullhead album. They also have a lot in common with the Melvins musically, including a fondness for heavily down-tuned guitar/bass tones and exceedingly slow tempos. But they also incorporate elements variously drawn from other sources, including psychedelic rock, punk, noise, minimalism, pure sludge-drone music à la Earth, and more.

Purple Bloom is the collaboration of multi-instrumentalist Tsuyoshi, who we originally featured in September 2007 with his music project Hate Everything You Hate, and vocalist Linden from Tokyo, Japan. Together, Linden and Tsuyoshi have completed a handful of impressive new tracks that are set to be released for early 2011.
